Grant started The Dark Studio Sound Company in 1998. With many awards to his credit including a Gemini for Best Sound in a Documentary, he’s our ultimate sound guru, demystifying and smoothing out even the most difficult problems with seeming ease.
Fittingly, Grant began his career in music before making the transition to post-production, and has since serviced a broad and diverse stream of respected film and television projects. Grant’s masterful crafting of any sound problem into perfect audio is a respected quality for which he’s most sought-after.
Grant’s favourite movie: No Country for Old Men
Mimi has spent time working at The Dark Studio since the summer of 2011. Since completing a bachelor’s degree at McGill University in 2016, she has been back at the studio putting her lengthy knowledge office operations to good use. Constantly inspired by the creativity of our clients, Mimi’s passion for film and television is on display when she arrives at work every day with a smile on her face.
Mimi’s favourite movie: What We Do in the Shadows
Patience has a passion for post-production! She joins us at The Dark Studio after accomplishing a bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Western Ontario and a Post-Production Graduate Certificate from Humber College. An avid jazz listener (and player of the saxophone for over 13 years), Patience’s interests at the studio include dialogue editing, sound design, and music production. She also loves cats.
Patience’s favourite movie: Fight Club
Well-versed and trained in our software programs, Marcus is knowledgable, helpful and unwavering in his dedication to detail, making him an ideal assistant to our mixers. Currently at Queen’s University obtaining a degree in Film and Media, his passion for the screen radiates through all the work he does. One of his favourite tasks is helping with ambiences and sound effects.
Marcus’s favourite movie: Rear Window
Quinn grew up at The Dark Studio since early childhood. Her strong understanding of our office and studio operations (along with a positive can-do attitude) help to keep things running smoothly. She enjoys spreading the news about our projects through various social media outlets; check out her posts on Instagram, Facebook and Youtube.
Quinn’s favourite movie: To Live and Die in LA
Ghost Boy is a small dog-like creature who can be found sprinting the halls of The Dark Studio. Difficult to spot and even more difficult to capture, Ghost Boy appears sporadically and always causes a stir. Will you be lucky enough to see Ghost Boy when you visit us here at the studio? Impossible to know.
