CBC – The Nature of Things
The intrepid Dr. Jennifer Gardy returns to continue her quest to put health and science claims to the test and discover whether they’re myth or science. This time, she will dig into our very hopes and dreams – our quest for self-improvement. These days we don’t have far to look for advice. Blogs, celebrities and talk show hosts make a constant flow of claims, supposedly based on science, to help us achieve perfection: Eating less can help you live longer, it’s important to fast to cleanse toxins from your body, you have to “exercise” your willpower in order to improve, it’s bad for your health to go to bed angry.
But, are any of these claims true? Using unorthodox experiments, traditional scientific investigation, and her own body, Dr. Gardy will find out.
But she’ll do more than that. Gardy will also uncover new research, offer a unique perspective on the science that affects our every day lives, and provide practical information to aid in our quest for perfection.
“I think viewers are going to learn a lot from this program, “ says Dr Gardy. “Both about themselves and about some of the surprising science behind everyday things like diet and exercise. There are some stories we covered that have quite literally changed the way I live my life.”
